Long-Term Development Trend of the Historical Cultural Landscape of the UNESCO Monument: Vlkolínec (Slovakia)

The presented paper focuses on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site of Vlkolínec (Slovakia), changes in its cultural landscape possibilities preservation for future generations. However, it is also a living settlement with residents who have demands their standard living. To analyze development protection zone, we used available relevant data such as historical maps aerial photographs from selected time horizons 1769, 1823, 1949, 2007 2017. Overall, interpreted total 13 elements, paying special attention to structures. For land use focused mainly determining area percentage relation period under review context natural socio-economic conditions. In order gain realistic view direct users area, decided apply questionnaire survey written form structured interview. We determined target group respondents—residents this (holiday cottage owners, foresters, farmers), i.e., processed opinions people directly influencing immediate surroundings—the landscape. interviews were identifying problems proposing solutions so not disturb uniqueness site, but at same attract tourism participants. Based results survey, evaluated identified phenomena, structures values compared them desired state landmark. Subsequently, prepared plans sustainable important site.
